Municipal Election – November 2, 2010
Three (3) Council Member Seats
(Terms of Larry Hansen, Susan Hitchcock, and Phil Katzakian
will be expiring.)
California Elections Code Section 10220 specifies that the nomination
period is “Not earlier than the 113th day nor later than the 88th day before a municipal election during normal office hours...”
The
next City of Lodi General Municipal Election will be held Tuesday,
November 2, 2010. Therefore, the nomination period for City Council Member will begin on July 12, 2010, at 8 a.m. and end on August 6, 2010*, at 5 p.m. (NOTE: City Hall is closed on the last Friday of the month). Call the City Clerk’s Office at 333-6702 to schedule an appointment during
the nomination period to receive forms and candidate’s instruction manual. *Note:
If nomination papers for an incumbent officer of the city are not filed by
the 88th day before the election, the voters shall have until
the 83rd day (August 11, 2010) to nominate candidates.
State law requires candidates to file
Fair Political Practices Commission Form 501, Statement of Intention, with
the City Clerk before raising or spending any money to run for office.
Form 410, Statement of Organization, establishes a committee – which is
required if $1,000 or more is received in campaign contributions. Forms
and instruction manuals are available through the City Clerk's Office and online at the Fair Political Practices Commission at www.fppc.ca.gov.
