The Operations Division is under the command of Captain Gary Benincasa.
A graduate of Tokay High School, Captain Benincasa joined the Lodi Police Department in 1983. He has been involved in many assignments throughout his career; however, his assignment to the Special Weapons and Tactics Team was by far the highlight. He was a charter member of the team, which formed in 1986, and retired as the SWAT Commander in 2004 after eighteen years of service. He was a member of the 2001 Grass Valley Advance SWAT Competition Championship Team.
Captain Benincasa holds a BA degree from the University of San Francisco and a MA degree from Chapman University. He was also a graduate of both the 214th Session of the FBI National Academy and the Los Angeles Police Department’s West Point Leadership Program.
Captain Benincasa has been married to his wife, Lori, for over 25 years and they have two sons, Aric and Nick. They are members of First Baptist Church of Lodi and enjoy serving there. He is also a member of the Mexican-American Lions Club. He enjoys both baseball and football and is a dedicated fan of both the San Francisco Giants and the San Francisco 49ers. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family, vacationing in the Sierras and golfing.
Capt. Benincasa is responsible for the entire Patrol unit of the Lodi Police Department.
Reporting to Capt. Benincasa are four Patrol Lieutenants referred to as watch commanders. In an attempt to improve the quality of life for the residents of the City of Lodi, each lieutenant is assigned to a specific Patrol District.
Supervising Patrol Officers are six sergeants. Patrol sergeants are responsible for monitoring the patrol officers in the field.
Patrol Operations is composed of six corporals, four motorcycle officers, four K-9 Officers, one bicycle officer and 36 patrol officers.
Other special assignments within the Patrol Operations Division include, Bicycle Patrol, Park Patrol, and Traffic. |
