 The first of three phases to reconstruct Lodi Avenue from the Union Pacific Railroad tracks to just east of Cherokee Lane is near completion.
Lodi Avenue between the tracks and Washington Street will open to traffic the morning of Monday, June 21. At the same time, construction will begin on the second phase, from Washington Street to Garfield Street. Construction on the final phase is scheduled from August 26 until October 26.
Detour signs and barricades will be moved from the first phase to second phase beginning at 4 a.m. Monday, June 21.
The final touches are scheduled to be installed Saturday, including pavement striping and installation of landscaping and decorative mosaic tiles designed and produced by the Lodi community.
 The $2 million project is funded by the federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
Motorists and pedestrians will notice a smoother road surface (one that no longer covers an unused railroad line), decorative brick pavers at key intersections and crosswalks, as well as decorative concrete and street lights.
