Nearly 3,000 residential water customers can now view up to a year's metered history of their monthly water use through a link on the City of Lodi's web page.
With the State requiring the City to issue usage-based bills for metered customers in 2011, the link, http://www.lodi.gov/Water/WaterCompare.asp, gives customers the opportunity to compare their current flat-rate charge to their potential metered bills. Customers must provide their account and customer numbers (found on monthly utility bills) to access the data. In the coming weeks, the Public Works Department will mail each metered residential customer the same information.
 A 2004 State law is requiring the City to install water meters throughout the community. A previous law has required all homes built since 1992 to have meters. The City's preparing to embark on a five-year meter installation program in 2011 to meet State requirements and ensure a fair and equitable water billing system citywide.
Water consumption data is not available for those residents who do not have meters installed at their homes. Most homes built before 1992 do not have meters. Following meter installation at those locations, residents will receive comparative information before transitioning to a usage-based water bill.
On average, residential customers use 2,000 cubic feet of water per month.
