Gang Shooting Investigation
The Lodi Police Department is investigating a gang related shooting that
occurred on January 28th, 2003 in the 2300 block of W. Vine Street at
approximately 2:00 P.M.
The incident began in the AM/PM parking lot at Flag City. A vehicle
occupied with juveniles flashed Sureno gang hand signs at a Hispanic male who
was fueling his vehicle at the gas pump. The Hispanic male flashed Norteno gang
hand signs back at the vehicle of juveniles. The juveniles drove into Lodi and
realized the suspect was following them.
As the vehicle of juveniles drove on West Vine Street, the Hispanic male,
riding as a passenger in the suspect vehicle, fired two shots from a 9MM handgun
at the juvenile’s vehicle, striking it both times. One round hit the left
taillight and the other hit near the rear window. There were no injuries.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic male adult, 18-19 years old, 5-06,
185 pounds, with very short dark hair. At the time of the shooting he was
wearing a white T-shirt, jeans, and a red and gold San Francisco 49er hat.
The driver of the suspect vehicle is described as a
Hispanic female adult in her mid-30’s. She is heavyset (over 200 pounds) with
long “frizzy” brown hair.
The suspect vehicle is a
silver late 90’s Ford Contour with 4-doors. The license plate is unknown.
The male suspect and the
vehicle were both filmed by the security cameras at AM/PM. Photographs have
been obtained and are available for viewing. The photos can be e-mailed to the
media. LPD investigators are requesting the public’s help in identifying the
suspects. If anyone has any information regarding this case they are asked to
